Jan 3, 2024 · Wonderful ride up Pike's Peak on the Cog Railway. Staff was very accommodating with reservation information and guidance on best day and time to go. Train conductor was informative and funny in giving a guided presentation. Drink water on the way up to lessen effects of altitude. Train doesn't stop, but goes slow enough to take pictures.

The cog railway is a fantastic trip up to the summit of Pikes Peak. Beautiful scenery! Hopefully the tracks will be clear so you can do it. Luckily the tracks were clear of snow, and we made it up to the top. Unfortunately, there was 8 feet of snow on the ground, and the crew had to shovel their way into the gift shop.

Save. For those interested, we sat on the left as the train we were in (not sure if they are all the same) had seats for 3 on the left and only 2 on the right. I really thought views were great (but yes slightly different) on both sides. The one from Brig is the continuing track from the Glacier Express. Because it is narrow gauge you have to change from the mainline trains.

The train is roomy and comfortable. There are two seats on one side of the train and three on the other-side. The views from the three seat side are slightly better but the views from either side are incredible. Once you reach the summit the views are panoramic and the picture taking is easy-breezy.
