Rifle weighs a tad over 10# now, was 11#+ before the stock swap, hope to lose another 1#+ with the barrel and scope swap. The barrel swap alone will save over 1#. 26" Proof Research Sendero Light in either .264 or .284 bore. But not if I get bad reviews on accuracy. This will be a 600-800 yard hunting rig for deer, and an occasional elk rifle.

Had a criterion remage barrel in 243 8tw. On a trued action it shot great, lots of groups in the .2s&.3s. Cleaned up as easy as my barts and kriegers. I pulled the barrel at 2400-2500, it's been 6yrs ago, so kinda fuzzy. It still shot under 3/4moa, with no flyers or wild shots at distance, but it had lost 125fps.

I was going to wait until I tried it out, but that may be a few weeks. I researched, then ordered a Shilen 17 HMR barrel for my 77/22 mag a week ago, directly from Shilen. Still a number of Shilen barrels in the Bench Rest winners circles. With the Bench rest crowd there is a lot of the follow the leader syndrome so barrels will come and go in popularity until a top competitor wins with one and everybody gets back on the bandwagon. This mentality has a trickle down effect to other shooters.
