If you don't tie your orders to 1 tick data or use high fill resolution, your backtest will be wildly different than reality. If you use 1 tick data or high fill resolution, you will be closer to reality (it's pretty good)--I would still visually validate there aren't data issues though, as they do happen (you know it when you see it on the chart). I used tradovate for over a year as my main futures, if it was dependable i would have stayed. I use Sierra Chart and Stage 5 now, it’s cheaper with same style membership and you do not get problems. If you don’t mind learning a new software that takes a while, it is way better. Candles do not lag at all, ever.While the charting is not perfect, it’s very easy to learn and is good for day to day trade initiation. For clarity, i do all my trade planning and real time market observation in TOS and keep just a single window of Tradovate. If I look at the notification settings (Settings -> Preferences -> Advanced Notification), I can play the sounds and they work fine. The volume seems normal.
