Sep 2, 2023 · Kara is better. All of my comments regarding Freya S or Kara's sound are limited to the 1x mode. Kara takes the transparency of Freya S, and adds a more beguiling tonal balance. Kara has more weight in the midrange, sounding more robust than Freya S. Massed/solo strings and pianos sound rich and sweet through Kara. Feb 6, 2015 · Schiit are quite dismissive of DSD in their site’s FAQ section, essentially saying that it isn’t a widespread enough format for them to design around: Let's say Sony suddenly opens their vaults and offers 30,000 DSD albums with guaranteed direct-from-DSD provenance at $5.99 each, or if Apple and Spotify and Amazon start streaming only MQA ... It would be sweet (and lots cheaper) if all 6N6P's sound the same or where differences are extremely minor. Probably wishful thinking though. Haven't been able to find any info on what improvements Schiit claims for the 'Plus' version. Also, with the Heresy, Schiit is competing against themselves for the same market space. Seems like that is going to confuse people.
