Acetone is much better and much faster at removing polish than nail polish remover. It also doesn't contain water: the worst chemical for our nails. I use a cheap oil around my fingers before applying acetone soaked cotton and my manicure clips to help mitigate the drying effect. Opi nail envy and jojoba oil.

I’ll push back my cuticles before painting on a nail hardener and then I’ll paint a new color over it. After it’s all dry, I’ll use a cuticle oil then hand lotion. And a bottle lasts a really long time - I notice that it starts to be less effective at around 1/4 of a bottle left (by which I mean, when I use it at a base coat, my nail polish chips more quickly with an old bottle than a new one), but getting to that point takes a while for me.

The cheap polishes on Amazon are cheap for a reason. On the other hand, you can order gel polishes from Sally, but you are paying the $10-20 EACH bottle price for the name brands like Gelish or OPI.
