SCT is a more popular one. The tune (Bama, Brenspeed, Jon Lund, etc.) is loaded on the tuner... you plug it into the car and swap the stock tune with the new tune.

Retarding the timing on the MBT tables is probably going to make drivability and torque worse. You could try putting the tables back, and using the burble logic in the fuel -> cutoff tab.
