by mtaalib » Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:05 am. I recently had the 'no key detected' problem on my 2017 flex. Out of nowhere it just started giving me this message. Luckily I was parked in the driveway. My fix was replacing the battery - not in the fobs - but the battery under the hood. Runs better than before.

Know these cars are sensitive to not getting correct volts and through up any fault. Had it on diagnostic in mate garage and no faults showing up or stored so I'm guessing ... It is a 2015 Escape SE ecoboost 1.6. I do have the scan tool. The IPC is reading no key detected. When I try to get into the PATS system it says access is ungranted. I tried to scan the BCM today but it is not registering the key is on. With the 2017 car this week, same 850 battery and JNC660, it would not allow the key to be recognized or after charging and the key recognized, it would not start. I blame the massive amount of battery management hardware attached to the positive terminal on the 2017 for this, but cant back it up with any engineering information.
