Oh, I agree, but every incarnation of the d20 system has had exploitative builds which can unbalance gameplay. It is fair to try to avoid those builds so mutual enjoyment can be had by those at the table. If you have one hyper-optimized character using said mechanics it makes balancing encounters insanely difficult.

As for actual crazy builds, Barbarian becomes absolutely nutty with any of the combat archetypes. Bastion, Sentinel, Mauler, and Dual Weapon Warrior all give the barbarian fantastic options they wouldn't get otherwise.
