If you have a really good T/O, and/or if train traffic is permitting, then you can hit speeds of 50-55+ MPH. However, we're only talking about the fastest stretches. The vast majority of subway cars average between 1-35MPH in between stations, going from 35-45MPH on average in river tubes.

I'm fairly sure that MTA Bus has the same policy. The MTA gives you your uniforms for free, you don't have to buy them.
