Feb 22, 2020. #1. Hi everyone. Just signed up to the forum. I picked up my 2020 Denali 2500 hd duramax this week and noticed a loud knocking at idle which increases in volume as the engine warms up. Went back in to the dealer before I even left the lot and saw the service advisor and the diesel tech who both said it was normal.

Mileage improved a little and I have never reset my 2nd mileage meter which reads 16.2 mpg for the average life of the truck with say 55% city and 35% highway and 10% towing.

Easy enough, but for anyone doing it, don’t take the shield with the housing. All you need to do are the two 13mm bolts at the back, top/side. You’ll understand when you look at it.

The filter on the 2019 L5D is the smaller filter just like the 2020 L5P and it takes 10 qts. as well. 2021 GMC 3500 SLE 27k miles. Not sure I should feel happy it was under warranty but originally took the truck into GMC dealer for what sounded like a boost leak.
