If you plug in the right repository information into Tinfoil, it will function as a free eShop alternative similar to freeShop from the 3DS days. You can find some of these "Tinfoil Shops" on a popular Reddit page, but these shop links cannot be shared here. Last I checked a few days ago, most/all Tinfoil shops were down temporarily.
Tinfoil works by hitting each shop and downloading information about what they have available. When the shop responds, the answer contains data that is encrypted. Finally, turning on airplane mode, turning on tinfoil, then turning off airplane mode as it's loading made it see the shop finally. A bit weird, but it worked.

It's a whole process but here's the instructions. Basically it relies on your Google Drive and you set up an account with Jits and link your Drive. You can copy games to your Drive from the Jits Share site or set it up on Tinfoil.
