Mar 21, 2022 · Why does the backstep have zero I-frames. If I remember correctly in dark souls 2 backstepping was viable because it actually gave iframes. You can make the argument that its a spacing tool or whatever but that doesnt really make sense since a roll not only achieves pretty much the same effect but does it in a much safer manner as well.

I think every game should go by Bloodborne philosophy of dodging. Except you couldn't be as quick in heavier armor. Quickstep has more iframes than roll and roll has more iframes than BB sidestep so it's not entirely bb philosophy, also ER quickstep was nerfed and now it has a follow up in form of backstep attack.
